Elon Musk has announced that his upcoming cage match with rival Mark Zuckerberg will be live-streamed on his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter). The 52-year-old entrepreneur and owner of X, and Zuckerberg, 39, who runs the Meta group of platforms including Facebook, will be competing in the fight for charity.
In a recent Sunday morning post, Musk confirmed the live-streaming of the event on X and mentioned that all profits from the match will be donated to a charity supporting veterans. Musk has been preparing for the fight by lifting weights throughout the day, even bringing them to his San Francisco office since he’s too busy to work out conventionally.
Both men have been playfully teasing each other about the fight, which hasn’t been formally announced yet. Musk referred to the clash as “a civilized form of war” and suggested that “men love war” when asked about the purpose of the bout.
The fight was agreed upon in June when Elon Musk expressed his interest in a cage match with Zuckerberg, who promptly replied with enthusiasm. They jokingly agreed on Vegas octagon as the location for the fight.
Musk, who acquired Twitter in a $44 billion takeover last October, humorously mentioned his signature move, “The Walrus,” where he lies on top of his opponent and does nothing. He also joked about his infrequent workouts, except for playfully picking up his kids and throwing them in the air.
On the other hand, Zuckerberg displayed his combat skills by winning gold and silver medals in a recent jiu-jitsu tournament. The rivalry between the two billionaires extends beyond the cage match, as Meta, Zuckerberg’s company, launched a direct competitor to X called Threads, which gained rapid popularity upon its launch. Musk retaliated by threatening to sue Meta, claiming they copied X.
In another late-night post on X, Musk showed his commitment to supporting his platform users. He pledged to pay the legal fees for individuals who faced workplace issues due to their activities on his social media platform.
The anticipation for the Musk-Zuckerberg cage match continues to grow, and fans are eager to see the outcome of this unique battle between two tech giants, all for a charitable cause.
