A single individual found themselves apprehended for an unusual incident that transpired on Friday. This person hurled dried turmeric powder, known as Bhandara, at Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, the Minister of Dairy Development and the Guardian Minister of Solapur. This peculiar occurrence unfolded within the premises of the Solapur government circuit house. The individual in question was subsequently identified as Shankar Bangale.
In the aftermath of the turmeric powder tossing, Bangale vocalized his demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to be conferred upon the Dhangar community. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of preserving the existing Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota without any alterations. This stance was driven by the ongoing demands of the Maratha community, who seek reservation within the OBC quota.
Notably, despite the incident, Vikhe-Patil exhibited a rather unconventional response. He chose to regard the turmeric powder, traditionally considered a symbol of blessings (ashirwad), in a positive light. Consequently, he urged the police not to initiate legal proceedings against Bangale.
However, it is essential to mention that Bangale did not escape without repercussions. He faced physical retaliation from those present at the scene, and law enforcement officers subsequently escorted him away from the premises.
